Day 1: Depart U.S. Our spiritual pilgrimage begins as we depart the USA on an overnight flight to Tel Aviv. Tomorrow, we will be walking where Jesus walked!
Day 2: Arrive in Jerusalem. We will be welcomed to the Holy Land by a representative who will assist us through passport control. After we board our bus we will travel to Mount Scopus for a magnificent view of Jerusalem. In Jerusalem, we will check into our hotel and enjoy our first dinner experience in Israel. (D)
Day 3: Jerusalem, Mt. of Olives, Gethsemane, Upper Room, Yad Vashem. Begin this day, and each day, with a wonderful Israeli breakfast buffet. Today we will stand atop the Mount of Olives (Mark 13:3, Luke 22:39, Acts 1:9-12), just as Jesus did, and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of the Old and New cities of Jerusalem. Next, we will walk past Dominus-Flevit on our Palm Sunday route to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus asked His disciples to watch with Him one hour and pray (Matthew 26:35-37). Visit the Rock of Agony, at the Church of all Nations (Luke 22:43-45). We will travel via the Kidron Valley past the Tomb of Abshalom, St. James and Zechariah. After passing the City of David, we arrive at Mt. Zion to experience the Upper Room, revered as the place Jesus celebrated His Last Supper (Mark 14:13, Luke 22:10, Acts 1:13) and the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:13, Acts 2:1). After viewing the site of King David’s Tomb, we’ll enter Caiphas’ house. Our last stop for the day is Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum and back to the hotel for dinner. After dinner, we will be offered an option to visit the Western Wall at night. (B,D)
Day 4: Caesarea, Meggido, Mt. Carmel and Nazareth. After breakfast, travel through Jaffa on our way to Caesarea, the capital of the Roman Province. We’ll see the Crusader’s Castle, Roman Theater and the world famous aqueduct. View the harbor from where Paul was taken to Rome. Board our bus for Megiddo, one of Solomon’s chariot cities and place of the final battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16). Next, we visit Mt. Carmel, (1 Kings 18:20-38) the place where Elijah called down the pillar of fire, which consumed the bullock upon the altar in front of Baal’s prophets. We’ll drive through Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus (Matthew 2:23, Luke 4:16), before returning to our hotel for dinner. (B.D)
Day 5: Jerusalem, Via Dolorosa, Western Wall, Garden Tomb. Today we’ll begin our walking tour of the Old City by entering the city from the Lion Gate. We’ll visit the pools of Bethesda (John 5:2-13) and walk along the Via Dolorosa (The Way of the Cross) and pause to reflect at several Stations of the Cross along the way. We will visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher before we continue to the Citadel of David. Our walk via the Jewish Quarter will take us to the Western Wall. From the Western Wall, we will view the Temple Mount and the famous Mosque. We will end our day with a special visit to the Garden Tomb and Golgotha. This will be an unforgettable experience as we see the empty tomb and celebrate communion together. (B,D)
Day 6: Tiberias, Sea of Galilee, Baptism. After good fellowship and a refreshing breakfast, we will board the air-conditioned motor coach early to drive to Tiberias. The drive will take us through Beit Shean ruins, where we will see the ruins of the ancient city where Saul’s body was nailed to the city walls (1 Samuel 31: 10-12). Experience first hand the same landscape that Jesus must have seen as we board a boat on the beautiful untouched Sea of Galilee. Imagine Him walking on the water (John 6:18-20, Matthew 14:25-32) or talking with fishermen at the water’s edge (Matthew 4:18-20). We’ll visit Capernaum and see ruins of the ancient synagogue, perhaps one where Jesus himself taught (Mark 1:21). See ruins of the first church of St. Peter. Next, we’ll visit Tabgha, where Jesus multiplied the loaves and fish (Matthew 14: 14-21). Experience the serenity of the Mount of Beatitudes, site of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5,6,7,8). Afterward, we will have the thrilling opportunity to experience baptism in the Jordan River, following the example of Jesus (Matthew 3:12-14). (B,D)
Day 7: Free Day. Today is a free day for us to explore Israel on our own or choose an optional tour which will be made available to us while in Israel. Optional tour prices vary and begin at $65.00 per person, payable in US dollars while in Israel. A favorite is the Masada/Dead Sea option; ascend by cable car to the mountain fortress built by Herod, where the Zealots made their last stand against the Romans. The visit the lowest place on earth; the Dead Sea where we will have an opportunity to float in the unsinkable sea. On our way back to the hotel we will see the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. This option is a must see for first timers! Another option may be to leave Jerusalem and cross into Bethlehem and visit the Church of the Nativity or to visit the fascinating tunnels that are located under the Western Wall! Whatever you choose, the day will be an exciting one! This evening you will say good-bye to all your new friends at the very special farewell dinner. (B,D)
